NPF (Normalized Permeate Flow)

A mathematically corrected version of flow takes into account changes in pressure, temperature, and osmotic pressure. It is used to compare sets of data on an equal basis or comparing data without the normalization step can lead to poor conclusions. A drop in NPF generally indicates membrane fouling or scaling. Meanwhile, an increase in NPF generally indicates membrane or system damage.
