Orthophosphate

A negatively charged ion (anion) composed of one phosphorus atom and four oxygen atoms (PO43-), which measurement in natural waters is used to evaluate the nutrient load of the system. Also used as corrosion inhibitors in iron, copper, and lead water pipes.
