We have researched and developed safer treatment options for products conventionally used in some water treatment applications. Garratt-Callahan has developed effective “safe-acid” alternatives and alkaline cleaning products that can help protect your employees, treat systems, and disinfect surfaces with safer and environmentally-friendlier options than traditional cleaners. 

Safe-Acid Alternative

We offer “safe-acid” alternatives to traditional acid descalers and formulated “greener” options for new system clean-out, passivation, and formulas for the disinfection of solid surfaces. Together with our laboratory and technical services department, Garratt-Callahan field engineers select the right approach for cleaning and preparing your systems, whatever condition they’re in.

For example, G-C developed a safer formula to address the challenge of removing silica and silicate-based deposits and the corrosion caused by traditional acid descalers containing Hydrofluoric acid (HF).

Hydrofluoric acid (HF), while commonly used and capable of removing silica and silicate-based deposits, is toxic and strongly corrosive. HF is a contact poison that can be absorbed through the skin, eyes, and by inhalation. Exposure to HF can cause serious burns, the disruption of the nervous system, cardiac failure, and death.

Using an alternative to such corrosive and toxic descalers is better for your systems and for those who operate them.

Superior Disinfection with Formula 3110

G-C’s Formula 3110 provides superior disinfection with an easy, safe, and simple application. It’s a broad spectrum microbicide and is very effective on waterborne pathogens, bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi, and algae.

Formula 3110, 0.4% chlorine dioxide (ClO2), is EPA-approved for a broad range of applications including but not limited to:

• sanitization and disinfection of hard nonporous surfaces
• disinfectant/antimicrobial for general cleaning applications for potable water systems

Sanitize Produce with Formula 3010

G-C’s Formula 3010 contains 15% Peracetic Acid (PAA) and is changing the way the Food & Beverage industry sanitizes fruits and vegetables. It’s EPA and FDA approved and is widely used as a sanitizer for produce. Growing in popularity as a sodium hypochlorite alternative, Formula 3010 is ideal for use in organic facilities and is OMRI* listed.
